Foster Village is Launching in Houston!

David Martin

What is Foster Village?

unnamed (3).png

Foster Village Houston exists to provide support and connection to fosterchildren and the families who love and support them. We believe that all children should be treated with dignity, care and belonging. Houston's child welfare system has over 2,000 children who have experienced trauma, hurt, neglect and abuse. Families stepping up to care for and love these children shouldn't have to feel isolated, and many won't foster again citing secondhand trauma and lack of support. Let's change that!

When a child is placed with a foster family, it is often with little or no belongings, and families sometimes have mere hours to prepare. Foster Village wants to take some of that stress away by providing a week's worth of necessities to families from the beginning with a Welcome Pack delivery. With that initial contact, our desire is that families know they have a lifeline there for them... because they will need it. They will receive our contact info, ways to get in touch if they have questions, concerns or are in need.

From there we will also be connecting families to support groups, family and parent gatherings, and babysitting nights! Our goal is for each family to feel as though they have a community walking with them throughout their journey.

How can I get involved?

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with us!

  • Come to our Launch and Fundraiser Event June 20.

  • Volunteer with us! Sign up through the website.

  • Donate.

  • Participate in our #30Bagsin30Days drive.

unnamed (4).png

Come join us for the night! We will be at No Label Brewery in Katy from 5-8, ready to answer your questions and tell you more about the vision for Foster VillageHouston. Bring the whole family, there will be drinks, food trucks, and there's even a play area for the kiddos.

Participate in our #30Bagsin30Days drive! Our goal is to fill 30 Welcome Packs in 30 days. Each Welcome Pack includes a week's worth of necessities like clothes, jammies, diapers, blankets, books and loveys. Get together with friends, co-workers, church group, or workout buddies to sponsor a bag or two. Shop our Amazon Wishlist to make your donation.
